PRESIDENT’S LETTER:

Our September monthly meeting was a great kickoff for the 2021-2022 camera club year. Lisa Langell was a delightful and excellent speaker. We intend subsequent meetings to continue at the same standard.

In the news regarding Covid 19 in the United States, we are cheered by many recent reports. Unfortunately, this pandemic apparently will be with us a bit longer. Consequently, we decided to continue a careful path for our future meetings. For the monthly member meetings on October 25 and November 29, we will continue to meet at the Sedona Creative Life Center at 333 Schnebly Hill Road, Sedona. This location is comfortable and located centrally. Of significant importance is the Center is very safety conscious regarding Covid-19 concerns, including the ability to practice safe distancing. For additional safety, wearing masks is required. We request all attendees be vaccinated. For extra protection at these meetings, we will not be serving refreshments.

Submission of digital and printed images increased considerably for October critiques. You will see some excellent photography from these submissions at our October meeting. We expect this trend to continue as more members submit their work to obtain feedback, which provides helpful suggestions about improving and enjoying their craft. The more we submit, the more we learn.

My personal sense is that our camera club is rapidly getting back on track to achieve our primary goals of fun and learning. We have a list of speakers for this year who will present a broad range of new and different ways to think about our photography. In addition, our mentoring, Significant Interest Groups and trips enable many opportunities to spend time with other members who pass along specific instruction, tips and ideas. Join whatever of these opportunities you wish and you be rewarded.

Dues were due:

Our club depends on members’ participation in many domains. Like every organization, we need funds to support our expenses. Our Bylaws state in part:

“The full amount of dues will be due and payable at the September meeting for the ensuing year. Dues are delinquent after October 1 of each year. Delinquent members will lose access to the members-only website including image submissions and photo critiques.”

Our Board of Directors is allowing an exception this year only: first, to submit images for November critiques, you must be a paid-up member before you submit your images, and second, if your dues are not paid by the end of October, you will no longer be able to access the members-only website functionality.

Paying your dues is easy. Just go to sedonacamera.club and login. Under the Members heading you will see a link for Renew Membership. Just follow the instructions.
