President’s Report

Our regular monthly member meeting will again be an in-person event on November 29th at the Sedona Creative Life Center at 333 Schnebly Hill Road, Sedona. We’ve found this venue to be comfortable and very safe.
All of us are tired of hearing about and dealing with the impact of Covid-19. Locally this pandemic must still be dealt with for meetings such as ours. So, we will continue to practice safe distancing. For additional safety, wearing masks is required. We request all attendees be vaccinated. For extra protection at these meetings, we will not be serving refreshments.
Our October member meeting was most interesting with local photographer Gary Glenn showing us how to easily use available backgrounds to illustrate a person’s character and/or important activities in an individual’s portrait. The November presentation will again provide another distinctive approach. This time our guest speaker, Scott Baxter, will illustrate his photographic captures of the both the elegance and nature of the west.
We are continuing to receive significant numbers of submissions of print and digital images for critique reviews. At our November member meeting, you will be delighted to see this month’s submissions. We will have a physical display of prints in the entry at the Creative Life Center and a digital display of all submissions during the regular program. Note that submissions for January 2022 are due on or before December 15th.
Several of our members submitted digital images for the Arizona Camera Club Council (ACCC) Fall Roundup competition. Those images which were given recognition were announced and shown virtually Saturday, November 13th. If you are interested in seeing those which were accepted and the winners go to YouTube at arizona camera club council. The details by Camera Club and individuals will be available sometime soon. When available, I’ll report the results for us. Early disclosure, our club did very well.
Happy Thanksgiving to all. Enjoy and continue to be safe.

November 29 Meeting Program

Our speaker for the November 29th meeting is Scott Baxter, a professional photographer for more than 30 years. His fine art photography work of the American West captures the dichotomy between the elegance and untamed nature of the West.  Baxter’s work is in numerous museums and private collections.
Scott will discuss his 100 Years 100 Ranchers project, described as “the best photographs ever made of ranchers in Arizona” with “a historical importance that doesn’t exist anywhere else.”  Baxter will also present images from his Top Hand Project, a series of photographs that is a natural extension of 100 Years 100 Ranchers
