Letter from the President

Our monthly member’s meeting on March 28th will again be at the Sedona Creative Life Center (SCLC) located at 333 Schnebly Hill Road, Sedona. The meeting starts at 6:00 PM. The doors open at 5:30 PM. Come early, visit with other members and look at prints that were submitted for monthly critiques.

The SCLC is comfortable and safe. With Covid testing now indicating safe levels locally, we have modified our position regarding safety measures. The Sedona Camera Club will hold monthly member meetings using the standards recommended by CDC’s latest updates. The club asks attendees to be fully vaccinated; wearing masks are at the attendee’s discretion.

Our March meeting presentation will be given by the “Storm Chaser”, Mike Olbinsky. His photos of storms are unique. What is required to obtain his images is both scary and very exciting. To see a sample of Mike’s photos, take a quick look at his website: https://gallery.mikeolbinski.com/fineart.

For the March Members Meeting, our club bylaws require a Nominations Committee to present a slate of candidates for all positions on our Board of Directors for the next year. If you are interested in joining the Board, but have not been contacted by someone from the Nominations Committee, please let me know about your interest. Nominations are also open from the floor by meeting attendees. If you do nominate someone at the meeting, be certain you have your nominee’s permission to do so.

The April Members Meeting will be our final one of the 2021-2022 Club year. Importantly, you must submit your digital and print photos for April critiques by Wednesday, March 30th.

Spring is here. It’s time to dust off your camera and start shooting again. We expect that the SIG groups can restart their activities. We intend to create a few local trips so we can spend time with other members doing what photographers do.

Be happy,

Roger

News
Great news!  The Covid Pandemic is finally at a point such that the Sedona Camera Club can hold the year end awards banquet.

Please save the date of Monday, May 9th to attend the banquet at the Sedona Community Center, 2615 Melody Lane, from 6 PM to 8 PM. It will be an excellent opportunity to share our love of photography with camera club friends.  Enjoy a wonderful dinner, including wine and beer if you wish, to celebrate the 2021-2022 camera club year. Then sit back and see some of the fabulous images submitted in this year’s critiques. After which we will present the Ellsworth Schnebly and Ray Reed awards. The Schnebly Award is for the most improved photographer as measured by their critique scores annual average improvement over the past three years. The Reed Award is for outstanding work to help other members improve their photography.

Tickets are $10 each and will be available for purchase on our website.  Tickets will also be sold at the March 28th and April 25th SCC member meetings. If paying by check, please make your check payable to the Sedona Camera Club.
