Letter from the president
Hi Everyone,
As you know, some bad words are used excessively in daily conversations. Omicron is such a word. As much as we in SCC had hoped to find better and more friendly words to use by now, Omicron is still part of our daily discussions. In the local counties of Yavapai and Coconino, the Omicron variant has become associated with other bad words such as extreme. For the SCC Board of Directors, Omicron has caused us to change plans again.
Our January 31st monthly meeting will be virtual.
All members will need to register for the meeting. See the instructions for registering and the details for the program below.
Several of our members indicated that they would not attend an in-person, indoor meeting until the local level of Covid was much reduced. Our speaker also expressed concerns. Although the Sedona Creative Life Center is considered safe, many of our members are in the age ranges categorized as most vulnerable.
This change of venue and type for our January meeting is not expected to be continued for the remainder of the camera club year, which runs until April 2022. We will decide on a month-by-month basis what approach will be followed.
We much appreciate your continued support of our monthly presentations. Our activities such as trips, Special Interest Groups, and mentoring will continue in whatever ways are possible and safe. We, like you, are weary from the constraints and changes required to cope with this pandemic. We remain hopeful for some near-term improvements that will allow us to get back on plan.

January 31 Meeting Program
Our speaker for the January 31st meeting is Laurent Martres, a professional photographer and author of the well-known Land of the Canyons and Photographing the Southwest.
In Part 1 of his presentation, Laurent will discuss a number of shooting techniques photographers will find useful in their travels using a few photographic examples. While these techniques can be applied to landscape photography in general, Martres will explain them with the context of the American Southwest. After the slideshow of members’ critiqued images, Laurent will suggest a great number of photogenic locations organized in themes (slot canyons, deserts, fall colors, etc.) from the American Southwest, illustrated by his colorful images.
Two workshops offered by member Scott Stulberg.
