Letter from the President
Time really does seem to fly, even in spite of major issues like the Covid pandemic. We are about to have the final member’s meeting for the Sedona Camera Club’s 2021-2022 year. We will again meet at the Sedona Creative Life Center (SCLC) located at 333 Schnebly Hill Road, Sedona. The meeting will start at 6:00 PM. The doors will open at 5:30 PM. Come early, visit with other members, and discuss with them your photography and travel plans for the coming summer months. As usual, the prints submitted for April critiques will be on display when you arrive.
With Covid testing now indicating safe levels locally, we have modified our position regarding safety measures. We still continue to request attendees to be fully vaccinated. Wearing a mask is at the attendee’s discretion.
Our April meeting presentation will be given by Derek Sturman, whose wide range of images is most impressive, see https://sturmanphoto.smugmug.com/. Focusing on the four elements that really define an image – Subject, Composition, Color, and Texture – Derek will explain how these elements really make or break our images. From start to finish, his presentation will appeal to beginners through advanced photographers.
For the April Members Meeting, our club bylaws require an election of officers for all positions on our Board of Directors for the next year. Our Nominations Committee presented a full slate of candidates at the March meeting. To assure that we meet the requirement that a quorum of members vote, log in to the website and then use the link on the home page on the website to vote. Please vote using the online ballot so we can minimize the time to physically count votes at the April meeting. Our bylaws also require that nominations be open from the floor by any member at the April meeting. If you do nominate someone on the online form or at the meeting, be certain you have your nominee’s permission to do so.
REMINDER: We are delighted to have the opportunity to once again celebrate the end of the year. We will have food and beverages of choice. We will see selections of the best images of the year. We also will announce two very special awards. Please purchase your tickets for attendance at our year-end celebration. My personal thanks to all the Board members and committee members who have provided excellent support for me and our Club during another year made “special” by the pandemic. We are all looking forward to creating a new and exciting normal for the coming year.
